Design Purposeful Real-World Tasks with Authentic Resources 

This self-paced microcourse introduces world language educators to strategies for designing purposeful tasks that connect classroom learning to real-world language use. Participants will explore how to select and use authentic resources—such as menus, videos, social media posts, and schedules—to move students beyond language practice and into meaningful communication. Participants will learn to design proficiency-appropriate tasks with clear outcomes, real-world relevance, and opportunities for interaction, helping students use language to make decisions, respond, compare, and share ideas with purpose.
