Branching Out: Elevating Communication and Culture through the Three Modes
This professional learning experience is designed for “rising” teachers—those in their 3rd–5th year of practice who are ready to move beyond foundational understandings of language proficiency. Building from our growth framework, participants will deepen their expertise in the three modes of communication (interpretive, interpersonal, presentational) while weaving interculturality into each mode. Using Edward T. Hall’s iceberg model, participants will push beyond products and practices to uncover perspectives, ultimately fostering students’ communicative competence and intercultural awareness. Integrated Performance Assessments (IPAs) will serve as a capstone practice, connecting all elements and providing meaningful evidence of growth.
